The Hollis Select Board on May 11 approved the placement of a New Hampshire Barn Trail sign at the Lawrence Barn.
John Porter, representing the New Hampshire Barn Committee, described a statewide effort to mark 30 barns on a driving trail and said the committee selected the Lawrence Barn as Hollis's contribution. "So our next project is the barn trail," Porter said, and explained the sign would be mounted on a pressure‑treated post, set three feet deep, and follow traffic‑bureau setback guidance.
Board members asked about maintenance and underground utilities. Porter said the metal signs are durable and the Barn Committee would handle maintenance and that the group would contact DigSafe to mark underground utilities before installation. The board moved and seconded approval; members suggested clearing DigSafe and DPW marking before the committee installs the sign.
The motion carried on a voice vote. Installation logistics — DigSafe clearance, stakes/marking and DPW coordination — were left to the Barn Committee and town staff to finalize.
