The Winifred Town Council discussed pool readiness and staffing at its April 10 meeting, agreeing to require two lifeguards on duty and to hire two lifeguards for the coming season.
Mayor Shirley Dyer reported that contractor Jeremy Carr still needs to finish leak repairs and concrete work before the pool can open. Council members said most of last year's lifeguards will return and that the town should ensure two lifeguards are present at all times; the council agreed to hire two lifeguards this year.
The council discussed raising the pool pass and swim lesson fee from $100 to $125 to help cover rising costs; the matter will be revisited when the council further reviews funding. Councilors noted they are pursuing funds from HB 355 to pay for leak detection and concrete work and will again address pool financing at the next meeting.
The council's action was a policy/operational decision to staff the pool with two lifeguards; no final vote on the fee increase is recorded in the minutes.
