The Winifred Town Council on Jan. 14 heard progress reports on several infrastructure projects, including the town's sewer upgrade, planned street paving and reimbursement delays for HB 355 funds earmarked for pool repairs.
Kurt Thomson of Stahly Engineering updated the council on the sewer project, saying easements should be ready soon and that Stahly is working with the Department of Environmental Quality on a list of tasks the state wants completed before the project moves forward. The minutes record that the firm is still awaiting land-sampling information and hopes to put the project out to bid by March.
The minutes also note Stahly will take additional sewer samples at the old lagoon for DEQ review.
On streets, the council was told that paving designs are complete and that Century Construction plans to begin work in the summer; the town is planning a public meeting on the street project at the end of February.
The minutes record that Winifred has been awarded funds through HB 355 for work on the pool and air valves. The town has billed the program for initial pool work and curb work completed by contractor Lonny Arthur but had not yet received reimbursement; the minutes state the program's limited staffing has slowed processing and that the town will not move forward with some work until reimbursements are received.
No formal council action was recorded on these items during the meeting; they were presented as status updates.
