During its July 7 meeting, the Terrebonne Parish School Board approved multiple committee recommendations covering insurance renewals, procurement awards, a small HVAC change order and adoption of budgets for designated funds.
The finance, insurance and section 16 lands committee recommended and the board approved: acceptance of AMBA’s student nurse professional liability insurance (limits $1,000,000 per student; $3,000,000 aggregate; estimated premium about $333 per student); renewal of group and individual life and disability coverage through Companion Life effective Oct. 1, 2026–Sept. 30, 2027 at the same rates and conditions; and offering an optional whole-life policy with a long-term care rider with employee-paid premiums. The buildings committee recommended awarding the uniform contract to Jake’s Kids for the 2026–27 year; that award was approved.
The board also approved change order No. 1 for the HVAC replacement at Village East Elementary in the amount of $9,994.40 to replace alarm horns/strobes and smoke detectors; funds will be derived from the building fund. Committee recommendations to adopt final 2025–26 designated funds budgets were approved and the board received proposed operating budgets for 2026–27 and scheduled a public hearing for July 14 at 5 p.m. at the Terrebonne Parish School Board office, 201 Stadium Drive, Houma. Several motions were moved and seconded in committee and approved by voice vote with no recorded objections in the transcript.
The meeting also included an update from facilities on outstanding work orders and monthly cost trends, and recognition of Monica Walters, an upcoming retiree from the district’s food and nutrition management team.
