YUTAN, Neb. — At its June 16 meeting the Yutan City Council approved event-related measures for Yutan Days, including a liquor license for Aug. 14–15, 2026, a $10,000 donation to the event, and the purchase of a park bench for up to $2,500.
Councilmember Lawton moved to approve the Yutan Days liquor license associated with applicant Angie Woster; Councilmember Smith seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Councilmember Schimenti moved to approve a $10,000 donation to Yutan Days, seconded by Councilmember Lawton; that motion carried unanimously. The council also approved purchasing one park bench for the park for up to $2,500 (motion by Lawton; seconded by Smith) and directed the City Administrator to compile a pre-approved list of three memorial bench options in distinct pricing tiers for future requests. Councilmembers Mach and Lawton volunteered to coordinate July events tied to the U.S. 250th anniversary and Yutan's 150th anniversary, to be held in conjunction with Yutan Days.
