Epping Planning Board recommends sign ordinance amendment for March ballot

At its Jan. 8 meeting the board voted 5-0 to recommend Article 19, updating the town's sign ordinance to clarify permitted sign types, sizes, placement, illumination and enforcement; the full amendment text will be available at Town Hall on Jan. 12.
The Epping Planning Board voted unanimously on Jan. 8, 2026 to recommend a change to Article 19, the town's Sign Ordinance, for placement on the March 2026 ballot. Chairman Michael Vose opened the public hearing and read the proposed ballot wording: "Are you in favor to remove and add new language to Article 19, Sign Ordinance. The intent is to clarify regulations governing signs within the Town, including but not limited to the provisions related to permitted sign types, dimensions, placement, illumination and enforcement."
Vice Chairman Mike Sudak moved to recommend the amendment and Heather Clark seconded; the motion passed 5-0. No members of the public spoke during the hearing. The board recorded that a majority vote will be required at Town Meeting for adoption if voters approve the amendment.
Chairman Vose announced the full text of the proposed amendment will be available at Town Hall in the Planning Department during normal business hours beginning Jan. 12, 2026. The board did not change the draft language during the hearing.
