At the start of the Oct. 22 meeting the Grantham Board of Selectmen amended the consent calendar to remove building permit item 1.a (M/L 226‑020‑000; 151 Route 10 North) for further review.
Town Administrator Emily Owens said the applicants "want it to be dark, and they want to seal off one of the exits," and asked the board to pull the item so the Fire Department and the Planning Board can evaluate safety and zoning implications. Fire Chief Justin Hastings told the board he needs to review the proposal to determine whether it meets fire‑safety requirements and to advise whether any conditions or changes are necessary before the permit proceeds.
Selectman Jeremy Walla made a motion to approve the rest of the consent calendar with item 1.a removed; Selectman Peter Garland seconded and the amended consent calendar was approved unanimously. The withdrawn permit will return to the board after the Fire Chief's review and the Planning Board's consideration.
