Grantham holds hearing on $30,000 Pillsbury Road easement to create plow turnaround

The Grantham Board of Selectmen opened a public hearing Aug. 13 to consider purchasing an easement at the end of Pillsbury Road to provide a safe turnaround for the town plow.
Town Administrator Emily Owens told the board the town is negotiating with property owner Mickey Pillsbury on an easement that would allow a small gravel area where the plow truck can back up and turn around; the proposed cost is $30,000. Owens said both the Conservation Commission (Aug. 4) and the Planning Board (Aug. 7) reviewed the proposal and recommended moving forward under RSA 41:14-a.
Police Chief John Parsons highlighted that the easement would "run with the land," meaning the access would remain in effect even if the property is sold. Chair Warren Kimball closed the hearing at 6:50 p.m. and said the Board will hold a second public hearing at its next regular meeting on Aug. 27, 2025, for additional comment and final consideration.
No formal purchase vote was recorded at the Aug. 13 meeting. The board’s next step is to consider public input at the Aug. 27 hearing and then, if appropriate, vote on an easement agreement.
