Board adopts emergency Title IX policies and directs independent testing of high‑school turf

At its Sept. 9 meeting the Governor Wentworth Regional School Board voted to waive policy BG to permit immediate action on policies affected by new Title IX regulations and then granted emergency approval to three policies: AC (Nondiscrimination/Equal Opportunity), ACA (USDA Nondiscrimination Statement) and ACAC (Title IX Nondiscrimination Policy & Notice of Nondiscrimination).
Charlene Seibel, reporting for the Academic Affairs Committee, said the NHSBA attorney recommended the waiver to allow immediate adoption. The motion to waive policy BG and the subsequent emergency policy approvals passed unanimously.
Separately, the Buildings & Maintenance Committee reported on recent water testing and the committee discussed concerns about the Kingswood Regional High School artificial turf field. Ms. Seibel moved — and the board approved unanimously — an instruction to the SAU to hire an independent third‑party company specializing in artificial turf toxin testing to produce a comprehensive report on current toxins in the turf. Board members expressed support for gathering independent information to inform any future replacement decisions.
In public input, Wolfeboro resident Bobbi Boudman thanked the board for the vote to test the turf field. Christina Swanberry of Wolfeboro asked how the district plans to test for Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) and whether Parentsquare will be used for urgent alerts; the board did not provide a detailed testing protocol in the minutes.
Next steps: the SAU will solicit proposals from independent testing firms and coordinate results with the Buildings & Maintenance Committee; the district will clarify alert protocols for urgent health threats as follow up work.
