Ferrelview trustees reinstate pay, adopt new water rates and underground facility safety ordinance

The Village of Ferrelview Board of Trustees on April 14 approved three formal measures: reinstating trustee pay, adopting a new schedule of water and sewer rates, and approving an ordinance on underground facility safety.
The board passed Resolution R2026-01 to realign funds and restore pay for trustees. Audience member Quentin Enriquez asked how long trustees had been unpaid and why the timing for reinstatement; Trustee Grant Lewton said the measure is meant to attract more candidates for trustee positions, and Chair Elizabeth Damm said the village's improved fiscal condition following the dissolution of the Ferrelview Police Department supported the decision.
The trustees also approved Bill No. 2026-02, which repeals Ordinance 385, amends Section 3 of Ordinance 362 and adopts a new schedule of water and sewer rates; the motion to pass the bill carried on a 3-0 roll-call vote and the bill will be numbered Ordinance 396. The board separately passed Bill No. 2026-03, an ordinance adopting general safety requirements for underground facility safety and damage prevention, which will be numbered Ordinance 395; that measure passed 3-0.
All three votes were recorded as ayes by Chair Elizabeth Damm, Trustee Mathew Damm and Trustee Grant Lewton. The board did not record any no votes or abstentions on these items.
The measures followed presentations by City Administrator April Baxter, who summarized staff recommendations and procurement steps where applicable. Next procedural steps are implementation of the new rate schedule and administrative steps to publish and codify Ordinances 395 and 396.
