The Byron Town Council voted unanimously Aug. 25 to allow Mayor Allan Clark to sign Resolution #24-2025, authorizing the town to participate in Wyoming Class (Wyoming Cooperative Liquid Assets Securities System), a local government investment pool.
Troy Hunsucker, representing Wyoming Class, told the council the pool is AAA rated, serves roughly 16,000 local governments, and offered an interest rate of 4.22% on Aug. 25 with flexible, daily liquidity. He compared that to a Bank of Lovell 12-month certificate of deposit yielding 3.5% and subject to withdrawal fees.
The nut graf: council members asked about risks and bonding; Hunsucker answered questions about safeguards and the pool’s structure. After discussion Councilman Shae Abraham moved to approve participation; Councilman Mikey Brightly seconded. The minutes record “All in favor. Motion passed.”
The minutes do not record the exact account setup steps, minimums, or timing for fund transfers. The decision authorizes participation but does not record any specific fund transfers or which Town funds, if any, will move to the pool.
What’s next: town staff will need to complete Wyoming Class onboarding paperwork and decide which funds to place in the pool and when to transfer them. The minutes do not set those operational dates or thresholds.
