Davie County commissioners press for budget scrutiny, some call for tax rollback

No formal budget decisions were made; commissioners asked staff for data on quarterly spending patterns, the school bond debt-service schedule and options for a targeted rollback or relief for residents carrying heavy burdens (some speakers said residents are using Social Security to pay taxes). Staff committed to return with details as the budget calendar advances.
