"I'm requesting that the tax rate be lowered approximately another 4¢," the commissioner said, noting bond payments and an increased value per penny as part of the rationale.
County manager Barnett presented the monthly report and confirmed the consent agenda included 17 budget amendments, among them a transfer to create an EMS administrative assistant position funded from fund balance. Barnett said the position will be advertised once the amendment is approved and described the reorganization as consolidating administrative duties after retirements.
After discussion about timing and fiscal impacts, the board approved the consent agenda and the budget amendment unanimously. Commissioners asked staff to closely monitor the new EMS position and to include it in next year’s base budget if appropriate.
