Mannington committee approves bills, accepts resignation and hears local reports

The Mannington Township Committee approved routine financial items, accepted a resignation and received several reports at its May 3 meeting.
On a motion by Patrick, seconded by Emel, the committee approved the attached bill list for payment. The roll-call vote recorded Mayor Asay and committee members Patrick and Emel voting yes. The minutes list check ranges beginning with computer check number 15260 and ending with 15295 and payroll check numbers beginning with 5463 and ending with 5549. Noted disbursements included Community Healthcare Assoc. (5/2/18 ck#1001, $3,384.00) and Storm Recovery Trust payments to local contractors: Fisher’s Roofing & Gutters (5/3/18 ck#1047, $250.00), HMS Concrete & Construction (5/3/18 ck#1048, $950.00) and Junior’s Tree Service (5/3/18 ck#1049, $6,800.00).
A motion by Emel, seconded by Patrick, approved the minutes for the April 5, 16 and 23, 2018 meetings.
The committee accepted the resignation of newly hired employee Paul Vollmer, effective May 11, 2018.
During public comment, Charles DeStefano of 75 Acton Station Road raised a zoning complaint regarding 61 Acton Station Road. Later in the meeting Patricia Skwirut representing the Mannington Township Board of Education said the school’s driveway project will begin shortly; the project is intended to provide additional parking and improve drainage.
Patrick submitted a written and verbal Public Works report. The minutes note Atlantic City Electric will perform tree maintenance over the next couple of months on Clancy, Quaker Neck, Swedes Bridge and Welchville Roads.
Financial receipts and reports filed at the meeting included Collector receipts for April of $190,418.74, a Mid-Salem County Court check for $2,226.25, Registrar receipts of $2,356.00, 149 dog licenses generating $2,856.00 and CFO-reported receipts of $348,860.17 for April.
Mayor Asay adjourned the meeting at 7:55 PM.
