River Ridge board accepts resignation of supervisor James Gilman, solicits applicants

The River Ridge Community Development District board accepted the resignation of Supervisor James Gilman from Seat 1 (term through Nov. 2026) at its Aug. 27 meeting.
District Manager Cleo Adams presented Gilman’s resignation letter. The board approved the acceptance on a motion by Supervisor Kurt Blumenthal, seconded by Supervisor Robert Twombly. Board members noted that the vacancy is an appointment, not an election, and discussed outreach to inform residents of the vacancy and candidate qualifications.
The board asked Mr. Long and The Meadows’ POA manager to e-blast residents about the opening and to request resumes or letters of interest before the next meeting. Staff listed onboarding requirements to be provided with the appointment package, including the administration of an oath of office, required ethics training, Form 1 instructions, a guide to the Sunshine Amendment and Code of Ethics, and Form 8B for voting conflicts. The administration of the oath and related onboarding were deferred to a future meeting.
The board will consider candidates at a subsequent meeting and appoint a replacement to serve the remainder of the term.
