River Ridge board authorizes RG Architects engagement to redesign two gatehouses

The River Ridge Community Development District on Oct. 22 authorized Bowman Consulting Group to retain RG Architects, P.A. as a subconsultant to redesign two gatehouses at the Pelican Sound complex.
Eric Long, PSGRC general manager, said the buildings will receive a facelift rather than demolition and that RG, which designed other community facilities, can provide 3D renderings and visual aids to convey the updated appearance. "RG does fantastic renderings, including 3D renderings and visual aids, that convey the visual appearance and feel of the project," Long said.
Board and staff discussed procurement steps, zoning and elevation concerns. Mr. Krebs said a new elevation certificate will likely be required and that original Development Order construction plans, if available, would be useful. The design and permitting phase was estimated at 12 to 18 months.
The Board agreed to book the $62,500 design expenditure as a reimbursable, to be invoiced to the CDD when financing is issued, and authorized Bowman to subcontract with RG under Bowman’s standard terms. The motion authorizes the Chair to execute documents after review by District Counsel and the District Manager.
Kurt Blumenthal will serve as the board liaison for communications and monthly updates, and Mr. Long was named to take lead on projects and coordination with affected neighborhoods.
