The Long Branch City Council introduced three ordinances on July 8 and set public hearings for July 22.
Speaker 4 read Ordinance 16-26, described as amending the city code to require that all rentals of one- to four-family dwellings have a minimum duration of 60 days. The council moved to introduce the ordinance on first reading, advertise it and set the public hearing for July 22; a roll call vote approved introduction.
Speaker 4 also introduced Ordinance 017-26 to amend chapter 297 (streets and sidewalks) by establishing final asphalt pavement restoration requirements determined by the size of the trench made in a roadway. The council approved introduction and set a public hearing for July 22.
Finally, the council introduced Ordinance 118-26 to amend chapter 125 (brush, grass, weeds) by adding an article prohibiting the planting, cultivation or growing of bamboo within city limits, subject to exemptions. That ordinance likewise was introduced on first reading and scheduled for a July 22 public hearing.
Each ordinance was advanced as an introduction only; public hearings will follow where residents and stakeholders can testify before the council considers final adoption.
