The Sanbornton Historic District Commission on April 13 authorized replacement of the roof on the 2006 addition to the town library in advance of planned solar panels.
Library Director Rebekka Mateyk told the commission the Selectboard approved replacing the addition’s roof to prepare the site for solar. Mateyk said she had chosen black architectural shingles but was unsure whether they came from the same supplier used on the Woodman Building section completed in 2021. Chair Sam Swartz and other members said the new shingles should match the Woodman section as closely as possible.
Commissioner Nina Gardner moved to authorize the library roofing project to proceed with black architectural shingles to match the 2021 work; Selectman Brandon Deacon seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Barbara Whetstone recused herself from the discussion.
The commission did not set additional detailed specifications beyond matching the 2021 Woodman Building section as closely as possible. Members requested that the shingle selection be confirmed against the Woodman section where feasible.
