Council voted unanimously on June 16 to add four hours per week to the deputy clerk position to address growing administrative and utility-billing workload.
Administrator Kendra Borror outlined duties the additional hours will cover, including handling all water accounts, issuing bills, applying payments, auditing accounts for discrepancies, delinquency notices, coordinating shutoffs, and administrative support such as council minutes, website updates and social media. Borror said the extra hours would cost the village about $4,500 over the course of a year.
Councilman Lyle Simpson moved to approve the additional hours; Councilman Mitch Peters seconded. The motion passed on a roll-call vote with all council members voting yes.
Next step: the deputy clerk schedule will be adjusted to reflect the additional hours; council did not attach further conditions to the approval at the meeting.
