The Seward City Council voted to go into closed session to give the city attorney negotiating guidance on real-estate matters related to the Seward Rail Campus.
A council member moved that the city council go into closed session with the mayor, city administrator, city clerk and city attorney "for the protection of the public interest" and for a period not to exceed 30 minutes. The motion was seconded and the council voted in favor. The chair announced the council entered closed session at 7:23 p.m. and explicitly stated no formal action would be taken during the closed session.
This action stops short of any formal decision on real-estate terms; council members said the closed session is to permit confidential negotiation guidance to the city attorney.
Next steps: the council will reconvene in open session when the closed-session period concludes and report any public next steps that arise from negotiations, if required by law.
