Bridgeport board adopts inoperable-vehicle ordinance, approves deficit plan and road closure MOU

The Bridgeport Charter Township Board unanimously adopted Ordinance 25-01 on Aug. 5, 2025, a measure the board said is intended to shorten turnaround time for removing inoperable or unlicensed vehicles from private properties.
Trustee Williams moved to adopt the ordinance and Trustee Kuznicki seconded. The board recorded a unanimous roll-call vote and the ordinance was approved.
At the same meeting, the board approved Resolution R25-10, an Internal Service Fund Deficit Elimination Plan. Trustee Placher moved approval and Trustee Williams seconded; the resolution passed by roll call 7-0.
The board also approved a memorandum of understanding with the Saginaw County Road Commission to decertify and close Mack Road between Suffolk Street and E. Tatham Road. Township Manager Chris Shannon told the board the closure and installation of a barrier are intended to address a long‑time blight issue on Mack Road. The board voted to approve the MOU by voice after a motion by Trustee Nelson and a second by Trustee Williams.
Trustees also authorized an IT services contract with Black Rock after reviewing competing proposals and noting cost and internet issues with the township’s previous provider; the motion was moved by Trustee Placher and seconded by Trustee Kuznicki and passed unanimously.
In financial business, Trustee Placher moved and Trustee Nelson seconded approval of Checks #74109 through #74250 totaling $516,257.58; the board approved the payments 7-0.
