Budget Committee elects Walker chair, Murphy vice chair and appoints two members

The Salisbury Budget Committee elected Brett Walker as chair and re-established Marcia Murphy as vice chair at its April 13, 2026 meeting.

David Kelly moved to nominate Walker for chair and Marcia Murphy seconded; the nominations passed without opposition. Walker then nominated Murphy for vice chair; Lorna Carlisle seconded and that motion also passed unopposed.

Two candidates introduced themselves to the committee and were appointed to fill vacancies. Jamie Goddard said he has lived in Salisbury for four years, recently decided to stop wintering in Florida and wants to "give back to the Town by volunteering," adding he has experience accounting for smaller organizations and called himself a "numbers man." Rose Fife said she has lived in Salisbury for 36 years, retired from the City of Concord after 38 years (including 35 years as a fiscal supervisor and three years as a building inspector), holds a municipal accounting certificate and prepared the building department budget in Concord.

Lorna Carlisle moved to appoint Goddard and Fife to serve on the Budget Committee until the March 2027 Town Meeting; Ashley Langevin seconded and the motion passed unopposed. The committee also voted to accept the draft meeting minutes from Feb. 2, 2026 on a motion by Pierre Ballou, seconded by David Kelly.

The committee adjourned at 7:24 p.m. after a motion to adjourn by David Kelly and a second from Pierre Ballou.

The new appointees will begin serving immediately and their seats will be on the ballot or otherwise confirmed through the town process at the March 2027 Town Meeting.
