Mayor Baker swears in Jennifer Stone; council hears community-center and road-maintenance updates

Mayor Mark Baker administered the oath to Council Member Jennifer Stone. Mayor Mark Baker administered the Oath of Office to appointed Council Member Jennifer Stone at the start of the Feb. 10 Village of Tobaccoville council meeting.
With Administrator Lori Shore absent, Mayor Baker delivered routine municipal updates: he said Sutton Brothers had installed a new heat duct furnace in the Community Center; newly elected council members must complete two hours of ethics training within their first year; a Thrive vending machine is scheduled for installation on Feb. 11; contractors will return to the Community Center to take measurements and provide samples for flooring, cabinet resurfacing and countertops; and the PARC Committee will host the annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 4 at 2 p.m.
Mayor Baker also explained how road clearing was handled during the recent snow and ice storm, noting that the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has jurisdiction over roads in the Village of Tobaccoville and clears them according to NCDOT's priority schedule.
The council then proceeded to routine consent and action items. No public comment was received during the meeting, which adjourned at 7:22 p.m.
