Tobaccoville council sworn in new mayor, names Carla Hall mayor pro tem

District Court Judge Eric Morgan administered oaths of office to Mark Baker as mayor and to council members Chris Starling and Chris Copeland at the Village of Tobaccoville’s Dec. 4 council meeting. The swearing-in took place early in the session, after a presentation of the village’s fiscal audit.
Council Member Chris Copeland nominated Council Member Carla Hall to serve as mayor pro tem; Council Member Chris Starling seconded the nomination and the council voted unanimously to confirm Hall. The council also reached consensus to keep its regular meeting day and time on the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.; the body deferred approval of designated areas of responsibility until its January 2026 meeting.
Mayor Mark Baker presented plaques recognizing Myron Marion, Boyce Shore and Administrator Lori Shore for their years of service to the village. The council took a short recess following the recognitions. The oath-taking, leadership appointments and procedural items were completed without objection.
The council’s next regular meeting will be held on Jan. 8, 2026, at 7 p.m., adjusted because Jan. 1 fell on New Year’s Day.
