Tobaccoville council opts against epoxy for Park Phase II, considers metal logo

The Village of Tobaccoville council received an update July 3 on Village Park Phase II and discussed material choices, upkeep implications and aesthetic options.
Administrator Lori Shore said she and Administrator Dan Corder inspected epoxy-coated surfaces at a local college to evaluate durability for the amphitheater. Based on that inspection, staff recommended against using an epoxy coating because of high maintenance needs and suggested that funds could be better spent on other park improvements funded through the PARTF grant.
Shore presented an alternative: a metal, work-crafted Village of Tobaccoville logo to be placed in the center of the amphitheater near the roof pitch. Council members provided suggestions on the logo design and asked staff to follow up with those details. The minutes do not record a final design decision or vendor selection.
Council was reminded that all work tied to the PARTF grant must be completed by the end of October 2025. Administrators said they will continue design refinement and report back to council with recommended specifications and cost implications.
