Tobaccoville council adopts FY2025-26 budget, approves budget amendment and accounting contract; clerk named financial officer

Council Member Carla Hall moved to open the budget hearing; Mark Baker seconded. After no public comment, Council Member Boyce Shore moved to close the hearing and Council Member Carla Hall seconded. Council Member Mark Baker then moved to adopt Budget Ordinance #203; Council Member Carla Hall seconded and the council voted unanimously to adopt the ordinance.
Administrator Dan Corder reviewed the April 2025 financial report and Mayor Myron Marion reported he had performed an internal audit of records and found no discrepancies.
The council also approved Budget Amendment Ordinance #204 to move unspent Village Park Phase II capital funds into salary lines for the Administration and Park Departments, citing hiring timing and overtime needs. Council Member Carla Hall moved to approve the amendment and Council Member Boyce Shore seconded; the vote was unanimous.
On finance administration, Council Member Boyce Shore moved and Council Member Carla Hall seconded a motion appointing Village Clerk Kimberly L. Keen as Financial Officer for Fiscal Year 2025-2026; the motion passed unanimously. Separately, the council approved an accounting contract with Gibson & Company, P.A. for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025 by motion of Council Member Boyce Shore and a second from Council Member Mark Baker; that motion also passed unanimously.
