The Town Council of the Town of Unionville unanimously approved a final payment of $20,000 to contractor Miles McClellan on Nov. 18, finalizing the Town Hall renovation, contingent on the contractor meeting additional concerns appended to the minutes. Mayor Baucom said the contractor originally sought $21,800; after consultation the Council proposed $20,000 and the contractor accepted the settlement.
Finance Officer Darrell Baucom earlier told Council the annual audit remained incomplete because staff were awaiting valuation of personal equipment and real estate at Noel Williams Park needed to finalize audit figures. Resident Tim Keziah used the public-comment period to request copies of several documents related to the Town Hall renovations; his written request was appended to the minutes.
Deputy Clerk Melody Braswell raised the possibility of a grand opening for the renovated Town Hall. Councilmembers favored scheduling the event during the Dec. 1 Christmas parade and tree-lighting to take advantage of higher attendance, though details and logistics will be finalized by staff.
The approval was recorded as a motion by Gene Price, seconded by Jaren Simpson, and carried unanimously. The minutes state the payment is contingent upon the additional concerns recorded in the contractor settlement documentation.
