Unionville approves one-year lease with Piedmont Recreation Association, seeks clearer insurance terms

Council approved a one-year lease with the Piedmont Recreation Association under which the Town will cover mowing, upkeep and utilities for the year but asked Finance Officer Darrell Baucom to review PRA insurance and be named an additional insured before the next meeting.
Commissioner Jeff Broadaway told the Council on Sept. 16 that he and Commissioner Andrew Benton represent the Town on the Piedmont Recreation Association (PRA) board and introduced an updated one-year lease under which the Town will pay for mowing, building upkeep and utilities while PRA continues to manage sports programming.
Council discussed contract details and Attorney R. Kenneth Helms said the arrangement "was fine the way they are doing it" but recommended the Town’s Finance Officer review PRA’s insurance policy and be named as an additional insured. Finance Officer Darrell Baucom will follow up and Commissioner Broadaway will contact PRA President Dallas Greene about inventory and equipment value.
On a motion by Jeff Broadaway, seconded by Andrew Benton, Council unanimously approved the lease agreement for one year and asked staff to return with a revised copy addressing insurance and remaining blanks at the Oct. 21 meeting.
