The Town of Unionville unanimously approved a general lease agreement with the Piedmont Recreation Association (PRA) at its Feb. 17 meeting after Commission members and PRA representatives met to reconcile provisions from both parties.
Commissioner Jeff Broadaway, who reviewed the lease, said he and Commissioner Andrew Benton met with the PRA board and answered questions to reach a blended agreement acceptable to both sides. Town Attorney Ken Helms noted the contract combined provisions requested by each party.
Council approved the lease and discussed implementation details: Broadaway said he has requested an inventory of PRA property for the Town’s records. Finance Officer Darrell Baucom asked about the lease’s effective date; Broadaway suggested April 1, 2025. Baucom also asked that the Town be provided with PRA’s insurance policy and suggested liability limits in the range of $2,000,000 to $4,000,000, with PRA responsible for insurance coverage other than property insurance the Town might carry.
The motion to approve the lease passed unanimously.
