Three Forks council approves consent agenda, holiday closures, a dog permit and several appointments

On Dec. 10 the council unanimously approved the consent agenda (including multiple contracts and a task-order amendment), adopted two resolutions on meeting schedule and holiday closures, approved an additional dog permit for 324 W. Front Street, appointed two members to the Zoning & Planning Board and adopted an Arbor Day proclamation.
The Three Forks City Council took several routine actions on Dec. 10, passing the consent agenda and approving a set of resolutions, permits and appointments.
On a motion by Councilman Gene Townsend, seconded by Councilman George Chancellor, the council approved the consent agenda unanimously. Notable items included City claims paid due to timeliness totaling $192,830.68; Three Forks Rodeo Arena Board claims due to timeliness totaling $738.40; a library reroof contract with Fregien Roofing, Inc. for $50,003.30; a Kolberg Concrete contract to redo the library ADA ramp for $23,914.00; a storage container rental for City Hall during construction at $150 per month; record-destruction requests; and Task Order #15, Amendment #1 with Great West Engineering for $558,600 for floodplain mitigation design.
Mayor Randy Johnston read Resolution #434-2024 to move public meetings in January–March 2025 because of City Hall construction. Councilman George Chancellor moved approval and Councilwoman Roxi McDermott seconded; the resolution passed unanimously. The council also approved Resolution #435-2024 to close city departments over the Christmas holiday on a motion by Councilman Gene Townsend, seconded by Councilwoman Reagan Hooton; that motion also passed unanimously.
In a separate item, the council approved an additional dog permit for the property at 324 W. Front Street after Deputy Greydanus' inspection report found the animals well cared for and no complaints on record. Applicant Peter Furman said, "We are very responsible dog owners and would like to obtain the permit so they can keep their four existing dogs." Councilman Garret Buchanan moved the permit, Councilman Ed Tharp seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
Council also appointed Kelly Smith and Niki Griffis to the Zoning & Planning Board (moved by Councilman George Chancellor, seconded by Councilwoman Reagan Hooton) and unanimously approved an Arbor Day proclamation for 2025 (moved by Councilman Gene Townsend, seconded by Councilman George Chancellor). The meeting adjourned at 7:16 p.m.
