At its Oct. 8 meeting the Three Forks City Council approved the consent agenda, received multiple administrative reports and heard community announcements.
Consent agenda items approved unanimously included timely claims, council and planning minutes, a boundary realignment for property owned by Dawn M. Chretien, and two reimbursement draws for planning grants (a $30,000 CDBG draw and a $15,000 MCEP draw related to the Three Forks Capital Improvement Plan). City Clerk Crystal Turner read the items into the record and the council approved them on a single motion.
Treasurer Kelly Smith told the council the Flood Project is moving forward: a meeting was held with the State, Headwaters Economics and the city's engineers, FEMA awarded a grant (award letter pending), and state resiliency funds may help the local match; MDT easement work is starting. The Water Project team reported O'Keefe installed the pump but had not completed the 72-hour test as of the meeting.
Representatives of the Three Forks Youth Task Force (Jill Peterson, Melissa Moser and Candi McDonald) requested permission to donate about $15,000 in reserve funds from the Summer Rec program to extend the beach at the second pond along Talc Road and possibly add one or two pavilions. Council and staff discussed that the ponds (except the third pond) are Fish, Wildlife & Parks properties and that the city's lease allows public-benefit improvements; the council expressed support and thanked the volunteers.
City Clerk Crystal Turner reported the city selected Municipal Impact for a website upgrade (estimated setup ~$1,185; content transfer ~$1,500; annual fee ~$600) and reminded the council that City Hall and Fire Hall RFPs were due this Friday. Sgt. Doonan reported 228 calls for service in September and 53 calls to date in October.
Councilman George Chancellor read his resignation from the Zoning & Planning Board; Councilmember Reagan Hooton volunteered and was unanimously approved to fill the Council seat on that board. Mayor Johnston adjourned the meeting at 7:56 p.m.
