Council approves amendment allowing three cabins to operate year-round

The Three Forks City Council unanimously approved an amendment on Oct. 8 to a conditional-use permit for property commonly known as 126 East Jefferson Street to allow three cabins to operate year-round.
Mayor Johnston read the applicant's statement (submitted by Bret Robinson). Council and staff discussed short-term rental rules and state law: Councilman George Chancellor and Treasurer Kelly Smith noted state limits on rental length and that short-term operations would require compliance with the 28-day state rule for long-term rentals. Council members emphasized that if the owner expands rental operations beyond the current approval, further applications for additional cabins would be required. Councilman Buchanan moved to amend the conditional-use permit to allow the cabins to be open year-round; the motion passed unanimously.
