Three Forks approves fire department handbook changes, confirms chiefs and adds library co-director posts

The council approved a set of personnel and administrative items affecting the volunteer fire department and the city library during the July 23 meeting.
City Clerk Crystal Turner described three edits to the Three Forks Volunteer Fire Department Handbook: allow the Mayor to appoint probationary firefighters to avoid delays tied to monthly council meetings; add and document a Chaplain job description; and replace an outdated volunteer job description with the more detailed version used in the department’s application packet. Turner said the City Attorney had been provided a link to the packet but had not provided direct feedback.
Councilman George Chancellor moved to approve the handbook changes; the motion passed 5:0. The council also ratified the department’s July 2 elections of Keith Aune as Fire Chief and Charles Eastty as Assistant Fire Chief.
On the library, the Library Board approved splitting the Director position into senior and junior co-director roles. Jaime Ewan would serve as Senior Director; the junior position was posted internally, the internal candidate declined, and the junior role is now being advertised externally. The council approved the job descriptions for the senior and junior co-director positions by motion (5:0).
