Montana Transportation Commission approves two construction contracts from Feb. 26 letting

The Montana Transportation Commission voted unanimously on March 10 to approve two construction contract bids submitted at the Feb. 26, 2026 letting, following staff recommendations presented by Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) staff.
Dave Gates of MDT presented the staff recommendations and the commission moved to approve the listed call numbers. Commissioner Noel Sansaver moved to approve call numbers 201–202 “as recommended by staff,” and Commissioner Kody Swartz seconded; all five commissioners voted aye, and the motion carried.
The first approved contract, listed as Project NH 574(18)145 (UPN 10071000) and referred to as MOSBY-WEST, is associated with Billings work and was recorded with 85 working days and a bid amount of $4,860,499.00, with PRINCE, INC. named in the listings as the contractor. The second approved contract, listed as NHPB 151(136)0 (UPN 10516000) for I-15 bridge decks south of Dillon, was recorded with 155 working days, a bid amount of $5,790,608.40 and L & J CONSTRUCTION GROUP, LLC shown as the contractor.
The commission’s approval was taken by motion and voice/roll call during the brief March 10 meeting. No amendments to the listed recommendations were recorded and staff recommendations as presented were accepted. The meeting record indicates the items were approved “as recommended by staff.”
The commission adjourned at 9:07 a.m. following the vote and a short informational update on other business.
