Housing office reports progress on Housing Choice Voucher plan, says landlord participation is increasing

The presenter, identified in the agenda as Shativa Marshall, said the office is tracking six goals set in the five-year plan: expand supply of affordable housing, improve quality, enhance services to participants and the public, increase accessible units, promote self-sufficiency and raise awareness of the voucher program. "We have been getting a lot more private landlords," Marshall told council, and staff reported that several local apartment complexes have agreed to accept vouchers.
Council members thanked staff for outreach and for public information meetings. Staff said the program serves residents across multiple counties in the region and that an annual HUD submission will reflect progress on the five-year plan.
