The Three Forks City Council voted unanimously Aug. 13 to adopt an updated Capital Improvements Plan, approving Resolution #427-2024 after staff read the document into the record.
Councilman Gene Townsend called the plan "very important" and said the city and future councils should refer to it when making spending decisions; Councilman Garret Buchanan described it as the best-defined project list he—ould recall. Crystal Turner read the resolution into the record when it was discovered it was not included in the packet.
The plan is intended as a living document to be reviewed at least annually, Council members said. The CIP replaces a 2006 plan and lists prioritized projects across utilities, streets and public facilities to guide budgeting and grant applications.
The adoption gives city staff and council a formal reference for project sequencing and potential funding requests; the council did not authorize specific spending in the motion. The council will consider budget adoption Sept. 10, when specific funding decisions for listed projects may be made.
