Calhoun County commissioners approve routine contracts, reappointments and $9.67 million in claims

The Calhoun County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 1 approved a slate of routine resolutions and procurement awards and recorded a unanimous roll-call vote on claims payable totaling $9,665,591.86.
Among the actions the board approved were the 2020 Water Resources Commissioner Annual Report (Res.162-2020), a resolution supporting an Emmett Township application for the F Drive North TAP grant (Res.166-2020, via the consent agenda), and procurement awards: RFP#111-20 for rest area maintenance on I-69 (Res.167-2020) and RFB#110J-20 for cutting edges in a joint bid with Jackson County (Res.169-2020). The board also approved a revision to the Kimball Pines Redevelopment Grant, increasing the county match using newly voted parks millage funds for a $388,000 project to add ADA-compliant restrooms, parking and a paved trail (Res.168-2020).
All recorded motions on routine business and procurement were approved on unanimous roll-call votes. The claims payable for Sept. 11–24, 2020 (Res.170-2020) was approved by a 7-0 vote and was recorded at $9,665,591.86. Procedural motions to open and close a public hearing on the CDBG CARES Act funding allocation were also recorded (Res.163-2020 and Res.164-2020), and the authorizing resolution for that grant was approved separately (Res.165-2020).
The board’s meeting minutes show the Planning Commission recommended reappointments for Terence Lunger and John Sackrider and approved several PA 116 applications, and Chair Steve Frisbie noted state-ordered spraying for Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE). No votes failed or were tabled during the session.
