On Feb. 18 the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners approved its consent agenda, which included several appointments to advisory and partner boards and authorization for a lease-purchase agreement to acquire four plow trucks for the Road Department.
Appointments approved included: Kathleen Johnson (Jury Board, term ending April 30, 2027); Gary Tompkins and Sarah Kelly to the Southwest Michigan Solid Waste Consortium (terms ending Jan. 31, 2022); Doug White and Patty Hoch‑Melluish to the Calhoun County Parks and Recreation Commission (three-year terms ending Dec. 31, 2023); and appointments/reappointments to the Community Mental Health Authority (Summit Pointe) including Commissioner Kathy‑Sue Vette and others, and appointment of Battle Creek Police Lieutenant Troy Gilleylen to complete a vacated term.
Commissioner Kathy‑Sue Vette moved to approve the consent agenda; Commissioner Tommy Miller seconded and the motion carried 7–0 (Res.026-2021).
Why it matters: Routine consent agenda approvals fill seats on advisory boards and allow the Road Department to proceed with equipment procurement; these items were passed without separate discussion.
Next steps: Departments and boards will follow up on appointments and the Road Department will proceed with the lease-purchase process for the four plow trucks.
