The Calhoun County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 18 approved a contract amendment renewing the county's Medical Director agreement with Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine for Dr. William Nettleton and backup personnel.
Administrator/Controller Kelli Scott said the amendment is necessary because Dr. Nettleton is spending increased time on Calhoun County public-health matters. Commissioner Kathy‑Sue Vette moved to approve the amendment and Commissioner Jake Smith seconded; the board approved the amendment 7–0 (Res.029-2021).
Why it matters: The Medical Director provides oversight and clinical guidance to county public-health operations; increasing the physician's allocated time reflects greater county needs or workload for public-health services.
Next steps: County administration will finalize the amended contract and coordinate with Western Michigan University and Dr. Nettleton's office on implementation and backup coverage.
