The Calhoun County Board of Commissioners voted March 4 to approve an amendment to the county's inmate medical contract intended to increase mental-health services inside the county jail (Res. 036-2021).
Administrator/Controller Kelli Scott said Corizon proposed the amendment and county administration and the sheriff support the change. Scott told the board the modest cost increase is expected to be offset by savings in the sheriff's current-year budget.
Commissioners approved the amendment by unanimous roll call. The board did not specify dollar amounts in the meeting record; county staff said the change would increase the level of service for incarcerated individuals who need mental-health care and noted that implementation will be coordinated with the Sheriff's Office.
