The Nebraska State Fair Board approved its consent agenda, which included the Nov. 15, 2024 regular meeting minutes, and unanimously approved the November financial report during its Dec. 20 meeting at the State Fair Administrative Offices in Grand Island.
Joe Stump and Executive Director Jaime Parr presented the monthly financials. Beth Smith moved to approve the November financials; Boyd Strope seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The consent agenda motion likewise passed on a roll call vote (second recorded as Kevin Jorgensen).
Treasurer Lanna Hubbard told the board there was insufficient time during the Dec. 20 meeting to complete a detailed review of the proposed 2025 budget. The board scheduled a separate meeting in January to review the budget and is expected to consider approval at the regular Jan. 24 board meeting. Brett Lindstrom shared a first draft of an investment policy that the finance committee will take up in January.
The board received updates on American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) projects: ARPA 1 is nearing completion, and the ARPA 2 contract has been signed but will require additional funding support for some projects. Jaime Parr also reported a land purchase tied to board business with an estimated closing around Jan. 6.
No motions to alter budget direction were taken Dec. 20; the board’s next procedural step is the January budget review meeting.
