St. James EDA approves additional Watonwan County AHA Program contributions, asks county to raise annual support to $30,000

At its June 9 meeting, the St. James Economic Development Authority approved additional contributions to the Watonwan County AHA Program for 2025 and 2026 and voted to request the county increase its annual contribution to $30,000.
Brianna Sanders, Economic Development Director, told the board the current funding covered 2023 and 2024 and that additional funding was available for 2025 and 2026; she said the project has good community support.
Mark Johnson moved to approve the additional contributions for 2025–2026; Lisa Rodriguez seconded and the motion carried 5-0. Separately, Sue Craig moved and Travis Elg seconded a motion to request an increase in the county’s annual contribution to $30,000; that motion also carried 5-0. The minutes record the request but do not bind Watonwan County to increase funding; the motion is a formal request from the EDA.
