The Aplington City Council on April 8 approved its consent agenda and a list of claims totaling $135,476.41 and set April 27 as the date for a public hearing on the proposed Fiscal Year 2027 budget and for the budget’s adoption.
Mayor Jason Mehmen called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Council member Meyer moved to approve the consent agenda, which included the meeting agenda, minutes from March meetings, the financial report ending March 2026 and a list of claims; Klahsen seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The claims listing presented by City Clerk Michelle Thede showed a Grand Total of $135,476.41 for the period ending March 2026. Notable entries in the list included a roofing materials charge for $28,750.00 and a Butler County REC electric charge for $52,251.46; the full claims listing was provided to the council as part of the consent agenda.
During general business the council approved building permits for Kyle Schmitt and B.J. Humphrey. The clerk presented two quotes to clean and wax the Community Center floor; Jacobs moved to approve the quote from Nikki Winterberg, Prier seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
The council scheduled a public hearing on the proposed FY27 budget for April 27, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., with the budget adoption set for 6:15 p.m. on the same day. With no further business, the council adjourned at 7:04 p.m.
