Albany selectmen approve tax abatement for Tin Mountain pavilion, ask staff to check permitting

The Albany Selectmen approved a property tax abatement for the Tin Mountain Conservation Center on Aug. 13 and asked staff to follow up on permitting and possible change-of-use tax implications.
During the town administrator's report the Town Administrator said the assessor recommended the abatement because a pavilion had been left off the property's exemption. "The recommendation was to get the abatement done and then figure out the land use change tax because that pavilion was built on land that was in current use as well," the Town Administrator said.
A Committee member moved to approve the abatement and to include in the motion that staff "look into the building permit and the...change of use of the property." The Chair seconded the motion and the board voted in favor.
The board did not state the amount of the abatement at the meeting. The motion also directed staff to report back on whether a building permit had been filed and whether land-use change tax procedures apply, tasks the Town Administrator said she would pursue.
