Conservation commission urges fish passage, water-quality protections for Town Hall Road bridge plan

At its Feb. 11 meeting, the Bartlett Conservation Commission discussed a letter from HEB requesting the commission’s input on a planned Town Hall Road bridge project.
The commission said the East Branch is an important recreational resource for the town and urged that any bridge work minimize impacts on water quality and on cold-water fisheries. Members asked that designers preserve unaltered passage for aquatic organisms and include measures to limit the spread of invasive plants during and after construction.
Chris Fithian, a commission member, will prepare a reply to HEB communicating those concerns. The minutes record discussion and direction to send the input but do not show a formal endorsement vote by the commission.
