Commission hears update on Dundee Community Forest; management plan due in December

The Bartlett Conservation Commission received an update Oct. 14 on the Dundee Community Forest and the work to produce a management and invasive‑species plan.
Commission member Craig Billie said a contractor has been retained to prepare both a forest management plan and an invasives plan; both documents are expected to be completed in December. Local organizations, including GBA and Jackson XC, have expressed interest in trail development, but Billie said discussion is moving toward less‑developed trails intended for hiking, snowshoeing and possibly ungroomed cross‑country skiing rather than heavily developed or groomed corridors.
Commissioners did not make final decisions on trail design at the meeting; they will await the contractor’s plans and the management recommendations expected at the end of the year.
