Shenandoah council approves routine expenditures, authorizes bucket truck, split fencing and generator repair

The Shenandoah Town Council approved several routine expenditures and equipment purchases at its June 9 meeting, signing off on disbursements, the treasurer's report and three separate procurement requests.
Council members voted to approve Combined Accounts Disbursement Warrants #43829–#43856 totaling $139,488.61 and accepted Treasurer Christl Huddle's report showing a fund balance of $2,833,506.57. Both measures were moved and seconded and passed by roll call; Mayor Clinton O. Lucas, Jr. recorded an abstention on the roll calls.
On capital and maintenance items, the council authorized $2,836.36 to purchase approximately 600 feet of split fencing at the Big Gem Access Road to separate vehicular and recreational areas. Town Manager Charlie Jenkins described the plan to have the Town Crew install the fence, which will notch around the pond parking area and run in front of playground equipment to improve safety.
Council members also approved using Capital Outlay Street Equipment funds to purchase a 2004 Chevrolet C4500 bucket truck for $8,690, a purchase moved by Council Member Christopher Reisinger and seconded by Council Member Lynn Fox. Jenkins indicated the vehicle would be used for public works tasks.
Finally, Jenkins told the council the Kohler Decision Maker MPAC1500 control panel at the 12th Street well had failed. The council authorized replacement of the control panel for $3,000 to be paid from ARPA-designated funds.
All three procurement motions passed on roll-call votes with Council Members Denise Cave, Lynn Fox, Brenda Haggett and Christopher Reisinger voting yea; Mayor Lucas abstained; Vice Mayor Kite and Council Member I. Michael Lowe were absent.
The meeting adjourned at 7:53 p.m.
