The Luck Village Board on Dec. 11, 2024 approved a package of routine municipal actions, including hiring a full-time police officer, approving contractor payments and authorizing permits for the village’s Winter Carnival.
Sonja Jensen, chair, called the meeting to order and the board unanimously approved the agenda and consent items, which included minutes from Nov. 13 and Nov. 18 and November checks and vouchers. On a series of motions that passed unanimously or by voice vote, the board approved several items on the agenda.
Votes at a glance: the board approved a final pay application (Pay Application #6) from A-1 Excavating for $70,744.33; approved a service agreement with engineering firm MSA for bidding and construction on the HWY 48 Utilities Project; authorized MSA to perform the village’s discharge permit renewal for the sewer plant; authorized a new full-time police officer effective Dec. 14, 2024 at an hourly rate of $33.23; approved payment to the county of $1,015.01 for 2024 election expenses; omitted item #12 from a road maintenance agreement for parcel 146-00443-0000 (1707 Lake Ave); appointed Susan Gilhoi and Lisa Anderson to the Housing Authority; approved Resolution #12032024 authorizing a Sterling Bank loan for the golf course; and approved street, vendor and picnic permits for the Luck Winter Carnival on Feb. 8, 2025 (parade 5–7 p.m.; vendors/Lion’s Hall 9 a.m.–6 p.m.).
The hire of a full-time officer was approved on a motion by Ron Steen, seconded by Mark Beidleman. The minutes record the effective start date as Dec. 14, 2024 and the hourly rate as $33.23. The meeting also recorded a separate committee report noting the new officer’s start date as Dec. 16, 2024 in the police committee report.
The board approved construction-related items for ongoing infrastructure work: MSA Change Order #2 for the Park Avenue Reconstruction Project and a service agreement with MSA for the HWY 48 Utilities Project. The board additionally approved MSA handling the village’s discharge permit renewal for the sewer plant; the minutes do not provide details of the permit paperwork or schedules beyond the approval to retain MSA.
