The Luck Village Board met Jan. 8, 2025, at Luck Village Hall and approved a series of routine and administrative actions, including a subdivision at 1707 Lake Ave and multiple vendor and personnel actions.
The board approved the consent agenda on a motion by Mike Broten, seconded by Stephanie Mueller. The consent package included the Dec. 11, 2024 meeting minutes, checks and vouchers for December 2024, and operator licenses for Brianna Crowe (Waynes), Michael Marheine (Waynes) and Billy Williamson (Dollar General).
On ordinances and vendor matters, the board on a Jensen/Broten motion voted to have General Code codify four 2024 ordinances (estimated cost $1,540–$1,870) and, on a separate Jensen/Steen motion, approved General Code's annual maintenance invoice of $995. The board also approved the MSA service agreement for Luck GIS services for 2025 on a Steen/Beidleman motion.
The board authorized staff to begin drafting a Short-Term Rental Ordinance after a Jensen/Cleary motion, following a recommendation from the Citizens Advisory Committee.
On land use, the board approved the subdivision at 1707 Lake Ave on a motion by Sonja Jensen, seconded by Jerry Kruse.
The board discussed an update regarding 210 Park Ave and set a motion hearing for Feb. 13, 2025; no action was taken on that item at the Jan. 8 meeting.
Public works staffing was addressed when the board on a Steen/Cleary motion authorized hiring an emergency snow-plow employee at $25.00 per hour "if needed."
The board entered a closed session under State Statute 19.85(1)(c) to consider employment and compensation matters as recommended by the Golf Commission. After returning to open session, the board approved posting two golf-course positions as recommended: a full-time, exempt Golf Course Manager/Golf Director with a job effective date of Jan. 6, 2025, at an annual salary of $63,648.00 (to be posted internally for two weeks; pay effective after hire), and a full-time, exempt Golf Course Superintendent with a job effective date of Dec. 14, 2024, at an annual salary of $55,000.00 (to be posted internally for two weeks; pay effective Dec. 14, 2024).
Committee chairs provided brief reports. The fire department noted work on a foam unit and a pump for a truck, Northland Ambulance referenced a February meeting, the finance committee reported it met that night, and the Planning Commission's recommendation was cited for the 1707 Lake Ave subdivision.
The meeting adjourned on a motion by Mike Broten, seconded by Sonja Jensen. The minutes were submitted by Jennifer Anderson, Village Clerk.
