Chair Sonja Jensen called the meeting to order. On a motion by Committee member Jerry Kruse and Committee member Ron Steen, the board approved payment #4 for the Park Avenue Project, a payment the Finance Board had recommended. The motion carried on a voice vote recorded in the minutes as “all in favor—aye.”
The board also voted to accept a timber-sale bid of $13,539.90 from Park Falls Hardwood for the golf course after a motion by Committee member Mike Broten and Committee member Jerry Kruse; that motion likewise carried.
Separately, Committee member Ron Steen and Committee member Mark Beidleman moved to approve a cease-and-desist letter drafted by the village attorney and authorize delivery to the owner of 210 Park Avenue; the motion carried. The minutes note the letter was prepared by the village attorney but do not specify the alleged violation or next enforcement steps.
Other routine business approved by the board included operator licenses for Brittany Bosak (Dollar General) and Brooke Sartwell (Waynes), a direct-seller/solicitor application for Beau and AJ Brenizer of Brothers Insurance Group, and a special-event vendor license for Ultra Cup Coffee to operate at the Fire Hall during the Gandy Dancer Marathon on Oct. 12, 2024, at 5 a.m.
The board appointed Allan Tomlinson and Scott Levine to the Citizens Advisory Committee and scheduled that committee's meeting for Aug. 21 at 6 p.m. Officials also reminded the public of Open Book on Aug. 20 (2–4 p.m.), Board of Review on Aug. 27 (2–4 p.m.) and a budget workshop on Oct. 9 at 4 p.m.
